Navjoat Kaur, LSWAIC
Licensed Social Worker
Washington

Welcome!

I’m Nav, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with an MSW from the University of Washington. I have extensive experience working in community mental health and agency settings with individuals, couples, and families, supporting people through life transitions, relationship challenges, and personal growth.

My work has shown me how demanding life can feel, but it has also reinforced how resilient and resourceful people are when they have guidance and support. My approach to therapy is rooted in the belief that it’s not about “fixing” you, but about helping you reconnect with your strengths, clarify your values, and build a life and relationships that feel authentic and meaningful.

You don’t have to be “falling apart” to seek therapy. Sometimes it’s about wanting more — more connection, more understanding, or more alignment between your actions and your values. Maybe you’re feeling distant from your partner, stuck in repetitive communication patterns, or unsure how to rebuild trust after a conflict. Or perhaps you’re an individual feeling overwhelmed, questioning your direction, or struggling to balance your own needs with the expectations of others. If this resonates, therapy with me offers a safe, supportive space to explore these challenges and create meaningful, lasting change.

Some of Nav’s clinical interests include:

● Adolescents & young adults navigating school, work, or life transitions

● OCD, anxiety, and academic or performance-related stress

● Emotional well-being: depression, anxiety, and stress management

Relationships & Couples work: communication challenges, attachment patterns, physical and emotional intimacy, trust, conflict resolution, parenting challenges, and unseen emotional labor

● Identity exploration, personal growth, and navigating major life transitions

What working together looks like

Therapy with me is collaborative, practical, and tailored to your unique needs. For individuals, we focus on exploring the parts of yourself that may feel stuck, conflicted, or overwhelmed. We identify patterns, navigate difficult emotions, and develop strategies for self-awareness, emotional regulation, and personal growth. Together, we create tools and practices that help you respond to life in ways that align with your values and foster resilience.

Couples therapy is an immersive, structured process where both partners feel seen, heard, and supported. Using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method, we focus on understanding the emotions underlying conflict, breaking repetitive cycles, and fostering connection. Sessions often involve exercises such as sharing core emotions with each other in a safe and structured way, practicing reflective listening, and experimenting with new ways to respond to triggers. We may work on identifying each partner’s attachment needs, recognizing patterns that contribute to conflict, and developing strategies to repair trust after past hurts. In sessions, couples learn to:

● Express feelings without blame or defensiveness
● Listen and respond with empathy and curiosity
● Understand and validate each other’s experiences
● Recognize and interrupt negative cycles of interaction
● Rebuild trust and strengthen emotional intimacy

The process is gradual and collaborative. Couples leave sessions with concrete tools to practice at home, skills to manage disagreements, and a greater sense of connection. Many partners find that the exercises we practice in session allow them to communicate more openly, feel safer in expressing vulnerability, and rebuild closeness in ways that feel sustainable. I also work with families navigating changes in dynamics, boundaries, and expectations. Whether supporting parents and adult children, blended families, or other complex family systems, therapy provides a structured space to problem-solve, grow together, and strengthen bonds. Therapeutic Approach

I use an integrative, trauma-informed approach tailored to each client’s needs. I draw on Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method for couples, and evidence-based interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and somatic practices. These approaches allow me to help clients process emotions safely, build self-awareness, strengthen resilience, and create lasting, meaningful change in their relationships and personal lives. If you’re ready to explore a deeper connection with yourself, your relationships, or your family, reach out to get started. Together, we can uncover your strengths, break unhelpful patterns, and create meaningful, lasting change.
